Swimming Pool

Today, we went to see Swimming Pool. When the movie was over, everyone stood up and as they were walking out, I could hear them saying, "I don't get it". At the time, I totally agreed. Then, I got it. There were a number of oddities that I noted during the movie that just did not make sense to me. They all fell into place. wrote Brian my thoughts. I am not sure if I am right, but it explains the whole movie to me. I should go check out the reviews to see what others have to say. Maybe, if I get some time...

Today Scott was supposed to come by and finish moving and setting up the karaoke portion of the system. I went to buy all the needed cables (6 RCA audios and 1 monster cable and one extension). I had to go to Radio Shack, Comp USA and Circuit City for these cables. In addition, I went to Costco, etc. I was under quite a bit of stress trying to get all this done by 5:00 pm (when he was supposed to come by). I got home at 4:30 pm, then Scott called at 5:00 pm to tell me that he was not going to make it. He was still in Kunia at 5. Hmmm, this is not working. I guess I shall have to find another solution to my other computer related issues. I still want to hire Scott to help me move the music system. However, when that is done, perhaps we should part company....time will tell.

Tomorrow, we plan to go see Swimming Pool. Yesterday, we went to see Seabisquit. That movie was really moving, fun and totally absorbing. I am amazed that a horse from 65+ years ago still moves people. I plan to borrow the book and read it soon. Darn, there are 62 requests in front of me. Oh well...I still have a bunch of books to read.

I just logged onto the Internet with my laptop and found there were 19 Microsoft updates to download and install. Wow, what a load. I am on the reboot portion.

Have to write Cindy tomorrow. She answered my update email with a lot of newsy stuff. This is really the first time she has shared much personal information with me. I want to stay in Seattle for a week after the cruise next year. This might give us a chance to get to know one another.

I am not sure if writing as a career will work for me. The problem is that nothing I am interested in seems enough for a book. Maybe I should start by attempting entry to the nonfiction magazine market. But, that leave me back in the same spot...what to write about? I wonder if I could sustain an email newsletter. I could try to do one that writes brief digests on particular topics...yawn...seem to be quite negative this afternoon.

I should just start by writing email to people on specific topics. That should stick my neck out a bit. It will also give a chance to practice. I suppose I could read the daily news with an eye for something to comment on.

28 Days Later

I went to see this movie today. Wow, what a bust. It was 2 hours and 10 minutes long. I think they could have chopped off 40 minutes and improved the movie. The pacing was too slow. The few ideas and points just kept being repeated. The movie was tedious. I wonder what the Director was trying to communicate to the audience. The movie reminded me of an updated Night of the Living Dead. I swear, some of the Infecteds looks like the Dead from Night of the Living Dead.

Perhaps, for me, the problem is the movie is British. The Brits may have a different way of making movies. Sometimes, there is a "gritty" look and feel to their movies. I have read some good reviews for this movie. Oh well...

It has been a long time since I posted here. So much has happened that it is hard to know where to start. I think the best thing is to just stream as though I had been posting all along.

I wrote an email to Cindy tonight. I told her that I wanted to do some serious catching-up. Hope this does not scare her away. She does not seem like the warm and fuzzy type. I should check my chart to see if there is an emphasis on family matters. This seems to be the topic of the moment for me.

segue...The guy that I was going to hire tomorrow called and backed up. He leaves for law school in three weeks. Apparently, there was a growing demand for his web services. I was not hiring him for web work, so he was going to charge me a lower price. But, since other companies wanted the web services, I lost out. Oh well, must be for the best.

Somehow, I lost the rest of this post. I thought I saved it when I went to the Library to request Lisa Marie Presley's new CD. Oh well, must not have been critical. There were already 12 other requests for her CD.
